My daughter is in gymnastics and has just recently started competing. The palms of her hands are so sore and almost raw (for lack of a better term) from the uneven bars. She puts chalk on her hands before she practices, but they are still painful.

I've tried putting ointment on her palms and putting a bandage on at bedtime. It seems to help a little, but during the day nothing seems to work. Because of where the blisters/sores are, nothing stays in place long.

Any help you can offer would be fantastic! Thanks :)

if regular bandages dont stay on there is a thing that you can buy at any regular drug store. in the army we call it mole skin it works great for blisters. i tell all my soldiers to use it to treat and prevent blisters. what you do is, it has a sticky side, you apply the sticky side in a donut around the blister until it is even with the blister not covering the blister until it is even and then cover the blister with one layer. it will help heal the blister and if she uses it on the areas where she gets blisters it will help prevent them. it is also bendable so she can still perform day to day operations with it

The blisters from gymnastics. Its similar to over walking and getting foot corns? She needs to take breaks instead of distroying her hands. Talk to her coach.

There really is nothing you can do about this. I had it for a while. Your daughter should soon develop harder skin on her hands that will not rip so easily.

Just grim the pain for now.
