I am 39 weeks, is it ok to use a heating pad? It feels like period cramps, and that is what I always did for them.

Heres a link where someone asked this through a baby website. Hope this helps. If you want to be on the safe side, you could call your physician or if its too late, call the hospital and they should be able to tell you.

you are 39 wks and never felt these cramps before??? that is what i felt like right before i went into labor, period cramps really intense ones and my back hurt bad... i would call the dr or go to the ER, but if you are sure that is not it then istead of a heating pad went a towel or wash cloth, and heat it up ( either in boiling water or microwave if you watch it carefully) and put it on there it is probabbly better than a pad!

ummmm... is this your first baby? are you timing the interval of these 'cramps'? this could be labor (how exciting!).

while you try to determine whether it's the real thing or not, try doing some "cat stretches" -- on hands and knees, arch your back up, tuck pelvis in (yeah, i know... 39 weeks and all but impossible to do). a warm - not HOT - heating pad may help.

happy trails!

a heating pad would be fine to use, but if that doesnt help them go away, you'll want to go to the ER. i went there last night with the same kind of back pains, and it was b/c i was dehydrated from being sick this past week, that since i was dehydrated, i was having contractions. they aslo found a UTI. so, if the heating pad doesnt help, go to the ER. Good luck and God bless... Youre almost done!

A heating pad will NOT hurt you or the baby. Those crampy feeelings could be your body getting ready for labor. No worrys!

Get down on your hands and knees.

"Roll" your back up (think of a cat stretching) then reverse it and push your back down. Do a few times to try to stretch the back out.

Heating pad may or may not work. Good luck and congrats

I am having my 3rd child and I have found that Bengay has a great pain relieving patch that works up to 8 hours. It works great even after I have applied it and re-apply it to another section. You should be able to buy them at any $.99 store.

NONONO. A heating pad will over heat you too much. And you could have complications. Try some sports cream.
