Ingrown hair for sure. You have to find the hair and pluck it out.

Just becaust this was asked in Mythology and folklore, i will now attempt to make up a myth on the fly to explain this
WARNING complete BS will follow....
what you are experiencing is a little known form of Fairy. they are minute in size and hail from the Northern American areas. commonly found in gardens and near the edges of streams and rivers. they look for people that work on their knees a lot. people that are gardners or people that wash their cloths by the river side. when they find one they pluck a hair from their knee and move into the hole. they then begin to build great cities under your skin. they are harmless but may cause some disconfort as they grow larger. they are by nature loners and once the city reaches a certain size they will begin to mofe out all on their own.
however you have decided to unlawfully evict them. the blood was theirs you squished them. you are a bad person now. you should have been a good host/landlord and popsted eviction notices like everyone else. now you will be sued in fairy court.

It could have either been (a) a boil or (b) an in-grown hair. After you let it drain, I hope that you cleaned it out throughly.
Have a lovely rest of the evening.

If there was blood and puss, it was a boil. It'll heal in a few days.

Could be a build up of calcium as that sometimes has the same symptoms of a pimple, just harder to "pop"...

If you think this has something to do with the olden days 'Witch's Warts' thing, no way.
Their warts don't hurt, plus it's just an excuse to presecute people.
