A blog can be anything you want it to be. It can be a personal diary. It can be a way to vent. It can capture the mundane, etc. and so forth. And it is definitely all about self-expression. But blogs can have many different focuses. It's just a format really. Many different types of people blog. And they blog for different reasons. Authors, librarians, booksellers, etc. are the types of blogs I'm most familiar with offhand.

It can be for a lot of things. I do it to keep the friends and family that are far away up to date with my life. Another thing it is good for is venting. Alot of times if I feel like crap I will write how I feel in my blog and it makes me feel a heck of a lot better. Kind of like a diary. They are pretty addicting. Especially myspace.

People like to think that there are lots of other people with no time on their hands who would like to read about their ridiculously mundane lives.
Some people want to vent, others want advise, and lots of other people just want some attention. I
t's kinda fun sometimes because it can be anonymous and you can say whatever you want about anything without really putting yourself into any trouble.

blogging is for lots of reasons...like to catologue places people have been, or things that have been done, or whats going on with some band or whatever...i personally use it as a diary...i have 3, although i dont update lots and lots.
i think it originally meant "web log" to log places people had surfed, but it has spread to lots of differant things now.

it depends. personally, i love mine cuz i can vent how im feeling w/o blabbing it in my friends ear. its out there, and if they wanna know, they can read it. we're both happy! plus, it allows me to keep ppl posted w/o me havin to contact each and every one of them. dont wanna rack up those cell phone mins!
