It sounds like your computer is probably too old to be worth upgrading. By the time you replaced everything that needs to be replaced, you would basically have a new computer anyway. The biggest thing you can do with an older computer is to add more memory, but you already have plenty of memory.

If you have the original Windows XP disc, you just need to run the setup program and select the options that let you delete your old settings and install a brand new copy of Windows XP. You need to make sure you have any files backed up because you really will lose EVERYTHING that is currently on your C: drive if you do this, but your computer should run much faster since this dumps all of the old junk and gives you a fresh new install of XP.

Since it is a Pentium 3, there is very little you can do to upgrade it, other than memory, video card, or perhaps to USB 2.0 card.

*IF* you mean by "wipe out" erasing your hard rive completely and starting with a completely empty drive, you'll have to have a Windows Installation disc to Install the OS (Operating System) on you blank drive\computer.

Its to expensive just to upgrade your computers hardware to mkae it better. Just buy a new machine.

The simpliest way is to just right click your HD and select format. But you lose everything even your drivers so back-up anything you will need again.

it might be cheaper to buy a new pc at a cut rate place, best buy or wal mart. then upgrading yours. the xp disk will reformat the drive if you wish.
