this transcends sadness -- my god, what's this world coming to that we don't even register that our neighbor has been dead for an entire year. Where were the utility companies, the taxman, mail man? What the heck? This is really beyond sad to me.

in one year, the body would have rotted a fair bit, and the electricty would have been cut off for not being paid.
