I don't think it is completley fair to point your finger directly at the student in most of these situations. When I was in high school, my mother (being a single mom of 3) could not afford to pay the bills, so I had to pitch in. I know several of my friends were in the same boat as well. And even if it is not to that extreme, some parents don't completely support their children, once they hit working age, they tell them that they are on thier own. This might not sound right, but it's the way it is. If you don't know where a kid is coming from, then you have to be careful in judging them.

I believe full heartingly that one can only study for SO LONG. Studies show that teenagers can't (on average) concentrate for much over 45 minutes. Also, social pressures and the age gap between parents and children have led to more children wishing to spend greater and greater amounts of time away from thier parents. But, in the end, I believe that you should maintain balance between work and studying becuase, without it, a moody teenager will only keep reacting to the superfluous amount of whichever extreme was "in" at the moment.

Dear Friend,
Let me make u r question clear, i think u r asking about students who after quick jobs and neglect higher studies. if thats u r question, here goes the answer
Well the higher studies market is gowing like anythin in india, viz. the MBA, MCA & MTech courses. Students who opt for jobs are overawed by the salaries they get in any sector initially due to the overall GDP growth of india that is about 8-10%.
It is a sole responsibilty of the student to decide what he/she wants.

Yes it is happening everywhere which shows that they are more interested in being payed and many want to save money for their future. They want to live a luxurius life.Nowadays most of the people give respect for money rather than qualification and they do prefer the same.Though all these seem good to hear .....we must remember that "MONEY can buy a book but not KNOWLEDGE."

I don't think this is correct. I don't see an overall shift in either direction. Do you have any evidence? Also the education system is very poor they use a kill and drill methodolgy rather than empahsize critical thinking. All you end up with are a bunch of brainwashed monkeys....

Working and studying go hand in hand these days. To be better at your work, you need to study something whether its being an apprentice or cracking open a book.

well they might be interested but they are sertainly not going to have the knowledge to do so, without skool or learning they will not be able to suceed in the job markets....they need to know that without knowledge they will not find a good well-paid job that they will love and enjoy while getting paid.

any economics teacher will tell you it comes down to marginal profit.

Will it benefit me more to spend each additional hour working, or studying?

Studying has an ambiguous, future payout. Working has a concrete, immediate payout. Easy choice.
