We go to the movies if it is something our family really wants to see right away. It is expensive, it cost us for a family of 4 almost $60 after tickets & snacks.
We also get movies from Blockbuster.com by mail. It is nice, we can keep the movies for as long as we want and just mail them back when we are done, then they send another one.
Also, McDonald's have Redbox in some of the stores, the movies are $1 to rent. Best thing is, if you are the road, you can return the movie to any Redbox along the way.

Both, but I prefer to go to the theater. I have little free time, so it is nice to go out to watch a movie when I have the time.

DVDs. I very rarely go to the theater. I prefer to be in my own home, for many reasons.

both, plus I have On demand to boot, only go to the theater if it's a movie I really really want to watch, otherwise, I have plenty of other options, including Netflix and Hollywood Video
