BitTorrent is a protocol that enables fast downloading of large files using minimum Internet bandwidth. It costs nothing to use and includes no spyware or pop-up advertising.
Unlike other download methods, BitTorrent maximizes transfer speed by gathering pieces of the file you want and downloading these pieces simultaneously from people who already have them. This process makes popular and very large files, such as videos and television programs, download much faster than is possible with other protocols.

I am not aware of any one putting a brand of Linux in a BitTorrent stream.
It is a peer-to-peer network, if you do have a need to use it, find a client program, there are tons of those around the 'Net, that'll take care of the technical details of how to interact in a torrent, then next obtain and open a "seed file" that refers to the file that you want to download.

well, first you have to get a bittorrent client, which will do all the work for you. then you search the web for the Torrent (file that contains the info on what you need to dl from people) and then once that is dl'd, (they are v ery small files) you open it with your client. keep in mind your firewall settings and so forth. the other thing is that you are depending on other people to have parts of the file, so if no one is seeding, (allowing the file to upload from their computer) you might have to wait until someone does.
the way that bittorrent works is that the client dl's parts of the file from lots of differant people in order to get the complete file. so if one person only has bits and peices, you can still get it from them. its brilliant.
i dunno if you are a new linux user...but a lot of linux OS's you can dl straight from the website...try a livecd like damn small linux, puppy linux or something like that if you arent sure about linux (maybe i am insulting your computer ability though.)

You also dont need bit torrent to download a new version of Linux. Typically u can go to the website and download the iso file which can be burned to a cd. So if u want Fedora Linux you go to fedoras site and download all the CD iso files.
