Cocoa butter is used for both preventing stretch marks and treating them. If the weight gain is due to pregnancy, the cocoa butter should be rubbed daily on the affected area. Cocoa butter should be applied to the skin soon after a warm water bath, when the pores are open and the cocoa butter is easily absorbed. Shea butter may also be used instead of cocoa butter. You can find more cheap and natural remedies for stretch marks at the link below.

I have two kids and no stretch marks. I used Fruit of the Earth Vitamin E lotion 3 times a day, and massaged and kind of stretched the skin to keep it loose and "elasticy". The massage was recommended to me by a midwife to prevent stretch marks, though age, and hereditary skin types can make some people more prone to stretch marks than others.

About 30 weeks with the first one, but about week 24 with the second, because the stomach muscles relaxed much faster the second time around.

I used cocoa butter every day, and still go them BAD. I'm short and had big babies...I thought my skin was going to split in two. I think I got them around 28-30 weeks.

I made it to 36 weeks and then all of a sudden I got all kinds of stretchmarks on my lower tummy. I was sooo upset cause I thought I'd escaped it. I didn't use cocoa-butter regularly.. supposedly it helps to prevent them.
