I watch deal or no deal and Im like, what the fu...that woman doesnt need a s**t load of money! Shes got a great job that most likely pays her a s**t load already! Why dont they ever try to actually make a difference in someones life who is actually poor! I went to a try out for the show and I kid you not, they all sounded like the stereotype of the "white snob." And evryone who was there clearly had money. Im not saying RICH people shouldnt have a good ol time on deal or no deal but, damn, all the ones that end up on the show are always the type I saw in line! Show me someone toothless, someone wearing dirty, ripped clothing. And the same for that show that gives people brand new homes! I saw a episode once where the bathroom was nice, and clean, kitchen too. The whole house was not bad, the people had alot of nice things in the house, so that obviously means that arnt poor. I just cant believe these shows and the people they pick and dont pick to be on there shows. What do you think?

No NO NOOOOOO, do NOT go there. "They pick the contestants who will give the highest ratings." Almost everyone I have seen are idiots on that show, I end up hating them and want them to get the worst deal possible. They do not make me want to watch the show, know why cause I change it. The people they pick HAVE NO PERSONALITY! They are annoying. As for being poor people unable to fly to the show...I do think shows fly out people they invite to be on their show. But just dont tell me the show picks people who will add spark to the show. Cause thats so far from the truth. So many douche bags have been on that show. And I saw frist hand a bunch of them at the try outs, lol.

So do you all agree with that? That deal or no deal is made to entertain and made just for the rich person?

Everyone on DorND pulls in a very nice amount of money thanks to a very good job. Id like to see an American whos busting their a** working 2 jobs or maybe more to support their family or an American student working full time and going to school full time. Not someone whos already got it easy.

The poor homeless people aren't the ones watching the show, that's why. They use people that they feel their viewers will relate to, and tell themselves, "Hey that could be me!". It's not about helping people, it's about selling advertising, end of story.
A few years back I entered my kitchen into some Ugliest Kitchen contest, to try to win a complete kitchen makeover. My kitchen consisted of 4 walls sheathed in crumbling plaster, a bare subfloor, a 30 year old fridge, and a garage sale microwave sitting on a milk crate. No oven, no sink, no nothin. There were holes in the floor that rats and snakes regularly used to gain entrance into the house. (yeah I'm serious)
The kitchen that won was an ugly, 70ish kitchen, that was completely functional. It had a working oven, sink, and even a dishwasher. The winners were SURPRISE! the target demographic family, mom, dad, and 2 or 3 kids. They wouldn't have lasted a week being forced to cook in my kitchen, let alone 5 years, but that's what the show though the audience wanted to see win, so that's what won.
*shrug* No one said life is fair.
And, it's just my opinion, but most of the people I know who watch those stupid shows are douchbags, so natch they would want to see people like themselves win. ;)

I agree, Altleast they have a house, shoot why not rebuild an old house for some dude living in a studio apartment or a mobile home. And I also agree with the Deal or no Deal why not go pick some person working as a security guard, waiter at dennies or someone working at frys or something maybe pick some person riding to work or school on the bus. Its always somebody making atleast 30 grand a year or someone who is almost done with college.

I like your question, and I think you have a very good point.
But remember - "the poor" is no longer just toothless homeless people. The security guard and the burger flipper are pretty much America's poor today. Have one of those people on the show, and even winning just a small amount (small comparatively, that is) could make a real different in their life.
I think that would make just as good entertainment.
What I hate about Deal No Deal is that they spend so much time on each person,...they draw it at for so darn long, it gets very boring. If people just took smaller risks, they could collect nice checks and move through more people faster.

I referred to an interview with Howie Mandel the different day and he suggested that the manufacturers of the educate p.c.. on a daily basis people. it is actual because the episodes that I actually have seen, at the same time as the persons get to the point the position the banker is providing them $40,000. money, they say it is more beneficial than they make in a three hundred and sixty 5 days. they are basically trouble-free Joe Shmoes like me and also you. so some distance as extreme domicile Makeover, it is completely diverse. the persons picked for that educate were through some very troublesome situations and characteristic lengthy gone out of their thanks to help others or were in a difficulty the position they could no longer restoration the domicile they are living in and it is in unlivable difficulty. i does no longer prefer to get on that educate because those people have lost some highly large issues to get themselves there. there have been 2 houses in our area that were redone. One, a guy grow to be shot in the right at paintings through a robber and he has lost his eye sight. the different one, a plane crashed in to a house and it burned to the floor and the insurance suggested the couple that owned it did no longer have the right insurance to cover a plane crashing into the domicile.

I agree. I have thought the same thing, where Im watching them be greedy and pass up a **** load of money and they end up leaving with nothing. put someone like me on there and it could be a total life changing experience. i dont have a good job like those people, and i could never be greedy with that kind of money. but thats why those people get chosen, its good tv. they want people who are willing to take chances, and us poor and middle class folks would probably play it safe.

They pick the contestants who will give the highest ratings. That allows them to sell more commercials and make the most money.
Doing anything else wouldnt make sense in a capitalist country.

i agree. want to know whats worse? log onto the website. Where the 'rules' are for applying for the show, you are required to send in 2 photos of yourself AND 2 photots of the people you want to "support you". One has to be a close up face shot, and the other has to be a body shot.
Well, if that doesnt say "we want beautiful people for our show!" i dont know what does

some times the poor people aren't aware of these shows, and sometimes they actually are on the shows. you have to be sort of smart to get on the shows and some poor people might not have an education.
