FORD FORD FORD FORD, had one myself. Ford had the bright Idea of putting the slave cylinder for your clutch inside, now get this, inside the bell housing of the transmission. I garantee the leak is coming from your slave cylinder inside of the bell housing of your transmission. Every other auto maker puts the slave cylinder on the outside of the bell housing, but FOOOOOORRRRRRD decided it would be best to place it inside of the bell housing for easier access, YEAH RIGHT. Stupid engineers!!!!!!! Hope you don't mind dropping your whole transmission just to replace your slave cylinder. SORRY MAN!!!!!!!!

The slave cylinder for the clutch, the part that pushes on the pressure plate is mounted inside the bell housing between the engine and trans. You are probably smelling the fluid as it is burned on the clutch. Crawl under and run your hand on the bottom of the cover facing forward between the engine and trans. If the slave is leaking, there should be some moisture there.
