No WMD can blow up a planet. To have any noticeable affect, it would have to be relocated to a populated urban area. The cold war scenarios required thousands of really big devices to be set off worldwide, and that might make humanity an endangered species but it would not destroy the planet.
A WMD that does not require a forklift to move could be strong enough to clear out a block or two in a metro area. However the radioactive dirt kicked up would represent a significant hazard that could affect 1000s of people that get in the path of the fallout. It could be a terrorist toy but hardly the end of civilization.

There is no Planet Hollywood in the "Far East"
and a True WMD class weapon would be quiet the "overkill" for such a venture anyway !! And, as far as a planet is concerned-- it would take the combined firepower of the world to blow a planet and even THAT would leave the sucker still in orbit and with physical form--- albeit totally uninhabitable for centuries on end !!!

Perhaps we need a little perspective here. Remember Mount Saint Helens? I do. When the mountain erupted, it released 24 megatons of energy, 50 times what was released by the WMD dropped on Hiroshima. This removed the top 1,000 feet of a 9,000-foot volcano. Impressive, but nothing like a planet.
Mother Nature still has more power than we do.

It won't happen in the near future given the fact that we're only currently a class 2 civilization and the technology to harvest a star's power to blow up a whole planet would take atleast the expertise of a class four civilization.

We all would be dead so who cares and the other guy who says it could not happen with one bomb is wrong cause it depends on how big the bomb is and where you drop it. But it would be highly unlikely with one. You would have to drill a big hole into the middle of the earth and drop the bomb perfectly there.
