I've tried bleach and vinegar but it still stays the ivory/light tan colour and I really want to get it back to it's original bright white as it has only been washed once. It is possible with nylon and elastaine clothing?

It had actually changed colour after it was washed and I only rinsed the shirt in a bleach solution for a few minutes but it didn't do anything. The bleach didn't make it the ivory colour, it just went like that in the wash.

Your problem is the bleach. Bleach yellows nylon and elastine. So you can forget about getting it white again. Sorry. Oh... perhaps you can try tintex whitener or blueing but I doubt very much if it will work. The dryer also yellows anything with nylon in it.
