newer moniter, newish computer, everything worked fine yesterday. moniter just won't start up

the computer is running and the moniter just keeps staying in sleep mode. I have rebooted several times and nothing. it sounds like it is booting but the moniter never stays on.

Unplug the power source from each device, then unplug each item and replug them in add power and see what happens.

is the monitor light on? If the light is on is the computer power light lit up? If theres power to computer and you can hear the pc running then check the monitor plug connected to pc. if the monitor light is on and pc is running you may want to check your memory. If the monitor is not working try to use another monitor and plug it in to see if this makes a difference. If there is no power to pc check power supply. You may want to check video card also.

Try checking the power cable on the computer. Make sure it is snug. Also check to make sure the power strip switch is in the "on" position if you have one. Then, press the power button again. If you are certain that power is power in the cable chances are your power supply inside the computer is bad. Your monitor should have a blinking or amber colored light if there is power going to it.

First check if everything is plugged in correctly, then check the Power Surge Protector, if its not that then Open the PC, turn it on, and check for any lights or fans. If not then its most likely your power supply (PSU) you will need an new one.
