ok so she gives alot to the people that need it most. I don't know how it works in America but can't she claim all her donation on her tax. I can't help but feel that she buys her fans with all that she gives. She always talks about when she was a poor black girl but I wonder if she truly remembers what that was like. I have also noticed that no matter who is on her show she turns the conversation back to herself.
What do you think and can she claim all that stuff back on her tax?

Have you noticed that alot of the items she gives away advertises certain brands? That's because most of the stuff is probably either given to her at a discounted rate although I think she gets given the products to praise the products first and then give them away (doesn't have to pay for them herself..out of her own wallet). The companies giving the items are getting good advertising and sometimes the companies are very generous if it's for victims of say a Hurricane such as Katrina. The companies want good advertising and are willing to pay for it.
Donations are usually tax deductible though. So anything Oprah donates, would be tax deductible if that's the same sort of system in America as Australia.

No matter what her motives, the products are still the same: doing good for others. Personally, I think that her motives are good. She sees outside of herself and has a heart that sees needs and does what she can to meet them.
I also heard that, when challenged on starting her school in Africa and not helping those in the US, she stated that it was because American kids answered the question, "what do you want?" by asking for things like i-pods and cell phones. The African kids answered, "an education". Really doesn't have anything to do with your question but I think it shows how much thought she puts into what she does.
About turning the conversation back to herself, I think that comes from truly connecting to the interviewee. She is not really there to interview but to have a conversation with the other. Two way. It also helps to make the other person feel more comfortable.
For me personally, I don't always fall for all of the celebrity surrounding Oprah. Heck, I don't even watch the show more than a few times a year and that is mostly by accident. I do read the magazine though. And, she continues to make me look at myself, see good in myself and want to help others.

No she is a beautiful woman & when she talks of herself she is teaching you how to be better happy healthy etc etc person
she will be able to claim some on tax but she has billions & people are spunging off her every day even her relatives because she is so giving & as she says she loves to be able to help people it makes her so happy & that is so true you do feel great to give money & things away
I know because even my small donations make me wish they could be bigger
Oprah is one of the few very beautiful people & she should be bitter because white man was not kind to her growing up & she had a tough childhood & turned out great

No way.
She's just being nice to her fans. And of course she remembers what it was like being poor. Why else do you think she opened up a school for poor kids in Africa? Why else would she have given scholarships to the essay winners when Elie Wiesel (author of "Night") was on her show?
And she is probably just making a connection of somebody else's life with her own when she "turns the conversation back to herself". It IS called "The Oprah Winfrey Show".
It's OK to dislike her. We all have our opinions. After all, a person can't know the truth about somebody if they don't know them personally. :)

I don't think she's a fake. Even if she does claim her stuff back on her taxes she still helps alot of people.

I applaude her...she is very honest in her motives and I am sure she knows where she came from..that's her guiding force......annoying at times yes...but who isn't? If she can get Companies to donate thousands of dollars worth of free stuff good for her ,that's one way to use your celebrity status for good use..I know I couldn't get them to do it ..I suppose some people have to criticize good deeds and find something negative in everything..even though they Don't really know all of the Facts...who cares about her taxes , she pays don't she? cripe...

That is true, shes nicve tohugh she can be a little self-centered though..But on behaft of that shes pretty nice, and seems like a fun person....
