There's actually two parts that need to be done to track you down from using a website anonymously:

1. They need to know your IP address. That's easy, because most web servers keep logs of what IP addresses have accessed the site.

2. Who was using that IP address. This is the hard part. Your ISP (like AOL, Charter, etc) let you use an IP address so you can be on the internet. But when you log off, they may give it to someone else. So they keep records of who used which IP and when.

Now, back to reality - if someone wants to find out who smeared their name on this website would need to get a supeona from a judge to force the website into providing the IP address of the user who posted that entry.... then they'd need to supeona the ISP for records of who's account was assigned that IP when the post was made.

Now, if that was all successful - they have the account of the person who posted that to the website.

I personally see a lot of issues with that site... too many unbalanced females out there smearing ex-boyfriends because they decided to break up with them.

Your IP is recorded by the webserver. That is something that is built into all web servers. How long the site keeps their logs, and what they might do with them is another question entirely. I don't think that site would survive long if they were known for giving out info about their visitors. Pretty much you'd have to be sued.

A bigger question to me is what you hope to get from posting there. I think the idea of the site is a bit silly really. A tiny minority of women will ever visit it, and here's the worse thing: you realize that there are lots of girls who like "bad boys" right?

If you really need to feel better, talk with a good friend, or even seek out a therapist or counselor you can talk to. Making a poison post on that site, while at the same time trembling with fear that someone will figure out it was you that made it, doesn't seem like a very healthy exercise to me.

Technically, yes you can. Unless you use a proxy.

There are two basic ways to use a proxy- However, depending on the website, these might not work either.

(1) Go to http://flyproxy.com. Post from there if it will allow you to.
(2) Download FireFox if you don't already have it. Then, get a good list of proxies and ports (aka search Google for "Fresh proxies"). When you get a whole bunch of proxies and ports, Go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Settings (under Connections). Click "Manual Proxy Config" and type in the proxy/port there.

Unfortunately, getting good, stable, working proxies is a hit and miss type of thing.
