A guy told me that if you get too into music(trance for example) it's dangerous. Not while you are on drugs or alchohol. But it'll put you into a new state or whatever.

Is that true? How can you get into that trance state or whatever?

Be like a blind person. Have music you really like. Close your eyes. FEEL the music, don't just listen to it. Close your mind to everything including the song, but not the music. Don't TRY REAL HARD to get into a trance, but relax and move as a fluid inspired by the music. Allow your body to move, don't move it yourself. It can be more complicated, but that is the jist of the trance. As far as being harmed, don't do it at a cliffs edge and you should be okay. In other words, keep your surroundings clear. It's an ancient ritual of sorts. Practice and remember the big step is to "LET" it happen, dont try to "MAKE" it happen.

Music can change your brain wave pattern, but I wouldn't call it dangerous. If you want to experiance a change in concousness that isn't dangerous try changing your breathing pattern. For example sit back relax and just enjoy some breathing, in out, try breathing in through your nose, and out your mouth. Close your eyes. After a while try to feel which nostril are you breathing through mostly. It is almost always through one more than the other. Now in a relaxed way just think about breathing through the other nostril. Make your breaths nice and deep, and remember to exhale as much as you are inhaling. Keep feeling your breath, and thinking about breathing through your other nostril. Before long you will be breathing through both nostrils and when you open your eyes you will feel diferent, refreshed, and lighter. Do it as often as you like, it cann't hurt you and is just one of many yoga breathing excersises to help you relax and clear your mind.
