She's so negative all the time. She has sleep apnea, so part of the problem could be that she doesn't get enough sleep. She said something to me that was pretty hurtful, and she's done it before but it's never been this bad. She also thinks her opinion is the only thing that matters. What can I do? I think it might be time for me to find friends that don't bring me down.

Find a better friend. If she doesn't value you enough to care about your feelings then she is not a good friend. If she can say hurtful things to you and not care she has hurt you then she is to self centered to be a "good friend"

Don't make excuses for her bad behavior and don't allow yourself to continue to be brought down by her. You are far to important to put up with a friend who treats you poorly.

If she is a really good friend (except for the bringing u down part) u could always talk to her about it. And try to get help and try to understand ur side/feelings. or like u said it could be time to find more friends...not just leave her and tel her don't ever talk to me again but just maybe if u hang out w/ other ppl u would feel so much better and then u wouldn't be in a bad mood as often.

maybe she needs a friend -- but don't count on her for friendship. in other words, find someone who can be the good friend you deserve, and then be a kind presence in this person's life. When she says something mean, just say, "Oh, listen to you!" and brush it off.

If she pursues and asks you about it, tell her you found what she had just said hurtful or unfair or negative and that you didn't like it, but you still wanted to be her friend. Eventually, she may get the idea of what she is doing that hurts other people and may choose a different way.

It's kind of like saying "ouch" when someone steps on your toes... no big deal, but you wanted them to get off the toes.

All the advice I have ever read says that you should be with friends that make you feel good about yourself. I have had the experience of distancing myself from friends who gripe, complain, whine, etc.all the time. I always feel better when I let people like that go.

Sometimes a person doesn't realize they are doing it. If I were you before I break it off i would tell her what she is doing and see if she didn't know. If she is really your friend then she will be okay. But if she says she wants nothing more to do with you then you need not go after her.

i have obstructive sleep apnea and i'm always tired, but i'm not mean to my friends or my family. it's time to express your feelings and if the situation doesn't change, change the friend(as in get a new one)

maybe you should talk to her about it...
i mean true friends wouldn't be always negative and
say mean stuff to you for no reason either also if it's
because she didn't get enough sleep it doesn't
mean that she should take it on you.
