I am watching the movie "the parent trap" how did they turn Lindsey Lohan into twin characters?

They film her doing the scence as one character then do it over and she plays the other then they edit the secound character into the same scene.
Lindsey is so talented to have pretended that their was another person there, I couldn''t belive that she didn't have a twin when that movie first came out.

I am no expert, but the previous person was correct, they film it twice, and they will have the actor behind and green screen, and tell them where to stand and gesture or have a " twin" stand in there place while they film.

im pretty sure they use a special type of Camera and then just film the scene twice.
