umm i think they're both kind of equal.. i think it's all about the people living there.. who's trendy, and who's not. i'm VERY trendy, i'm in school for fashion and merchandising, and am an intern for InStyle magazine. i live near LA... but i have friends who live in NY that are very trendy.. i think it's kinda mixed.

There's no difference really, New Yorkers used to have great, original fashion senses, now they wear the same mass-market stuff as everybody else.
Oh, and now, what New Yorkers think is original is just plain fugly, they've been infected with "The Emperor's New Clothes" syndrome for years now. They think everything different is good, newsflash: No it's not, it's not interesting or statement-making, it's just fugly.

New York, because that's where most of the designers and magazine publications are. LA has a more laid back style for the sun.

Los Angelas has a much more unique style than new york. people in new york are label whores.
