NO! It is NOT bad that you haven't been to a doctor. Pregnancy is a normal and natural thing. Women have been doing fine without the OBs interfering for millions of years. A lot of those tests they perform are totally unnecessary and can actually cause problems down the road. Hospitals cause even more problems with mom and baby. Eat healthy, take care of yourself, drink lots of water and rest. You don't need some person with a medical degree to tell you that everything is going fine. See if you can find a midwife in your area. She will take the TIME to talk to you, to get to know you and to take care of you. OBs spend what, 10 minutes with you? How are you supposed to get to know what they are like from that? And they have no clue who you are when you go to the hospital. They see so many patients a day that they probably all run together.

Generally speaking OBs won't even make an appointment until you are 12 weeks pregnant, so you are not that far behind. Any family practice free clinic should also be able to offer basic prenatal care, even though they would not have anyone to attend the delivery.
Also you could look into midwifery care as it may be cheaper.
In addition, many people, myself included consider standard prenatal care to be dangerous and do our own prenatal care to different degress. Sometimes with a backup doctor or midwife, sometimes without. However there is a lot of thought and knowledge that is generally put into this decision before getting pregnant. I don't know if you have time to do that at this point, but you could google "unassisted childbirth" if you are interested.
Don't think that you have to give birth alone if you don't have prenatal care. Unassisted childbirth can happen with full prenatal care, and Hospital births can happen with unassisted pregnancies (though this is rarer as you will get hassled). However doing your own basic care includind weight, fundal height, and urine dip sticks is probably safer than no care at all. However generally "unassisted childbirth" will yield more information in a search than "unassisted pregnancy" though of course you can certainly google both.
Also the main forms of treatment for problems during pregnancy are abortion and "wait and see". There are no treatments for almost all birth defects and while certain birth defects, spina bifida may do better if born via c-section routine ultrasounds are not recommended by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists as they do not improve outcomes. No ultrasound = no chance of dianosing spina bifida. So statistically there obviously isn't that big of a difference.

I will tell you a story...
I am unable to qualify for gov. medical care (husband is a foreinger)... I have no other insurance... I had no clinic... Family planning cost $200 per visit... I couldn't afford... I was pregnant and went without any care until my water broke and I had to go to the hospital... Where they took so much blood for tests, Asked me HUNDREDS of questions for over an hour... about why I didn't do this or that.... No one would believe my story... until now they tried to get me help but they found out I wasn't lying.
My baby was perfectly healthy 38 week 8lbs, 22 inches... Very scary though... I couldn't have worried more... I wish I had a doc and this was my second pregnancy... If this is your first you will feel so much better with an OB.... You will have a lot of questions. Also serious conditions can develop...

I'm not quite sure why you woudn't want to go to an OB doctor. If medicaid is paying for it, it can't be about the money. Your OB doctor will answer all of your questions, put your worries to rest, schedule you an ultrasound so you can see your baby, and at every visit after 8 weeks you get to hear you babies heart beat. I personally love that part. Not going can put you and your unborn child at risk. There are some complications that can arise in pregnancy such a preclampsia, edema, gestational diabeties, ectobic pregnancy, placenta previa...Just a lot of things that can go wrong (not that they are very common in pregnancy - you should always be caucios though). If you have a hard time getting a ride to your doctors visits most medicaid providers will provide you wil rides free of cost to and from your appointment. Make sure you are taking your prenantal vitamins and make an appointment!

Now I'm just assuming here so nobody lash out at me or freak out, but I think you should be okay as long as you are eating right, taking your vitamins, and taking care of yourself. I am saying this because there are times women don't even find out they are pregnant till like four or five months! And if they had no idea and living their normal lives and still had a healthy baby, then I would say so. Unless you are experiencing things that usually dont go durring pregnancy. What you should do though, is maybe go to aplanned parenthood, tell them you are pregnant, and you need some tips and advice for now until you can see a doctor, because you will need to see one. Or look in the phone book and see if you can find any place that will help you for a low price. Or call a doctor hotline telling them and see what they can do. Good luck

Yes it is bad! I am six weeks pregnant myself, there are so many reasons you need to go to the doc!
First you need to ensure that the baby is progessing as he/she should, you also need information on things like foods to stay away from, prescription and over the counter drugs that are dangerous. You also need prenatal vitamins, there are several other vitamins and optional supplements available, in addition you learn your due date and by now can hear your baby's heartbeat, which will tell them if the baby is healthy to begin with!
There is so much about being pregnant that a woman does not take into consideration... For example, you can only eat fish one a week if at all due the high mercury levels, also you cannot change litter boxes for cats.. you cannot lift anything that makes you strain, you cannot go on boats, you should sleep on your side and only your side from now on... Also there is blood work you need to get done to make sure your pregnancy is going well.
Most hospitals have a sliding fee and/or payment plan... beyond that as long as you pay at least one dollar per statement they cannot deny you services....
It appears that money is an issue and i fully understand that! However, whats more important, money or your childs life...

im 17 and i havent heard crap from medicaid... why are they giving you such a hard time? thats wrong. but its also VERY unsafe to just not go to the dr while youre pregnant. they check to make sure the baby is OK and there are some things that you can get during pregnancy that can harm either the baby or YOU. so i would say F*** the medicaid ppl and whatever theyre saying, as long as you have it, then just go to the Dr. you really need to. dont you want to see your baby? (ultrasounds)? dont you want the best for your baby? you need to see the dr asap. God bless...

You need to really go and see a doctor, or look into to any kind of clinic that may offer some kind of free service.. We have 2 in the area that I live in they are not doctors, but they do visits with you untill you are able to see an OB.. Call around and see if there are clinics in your area with the same help...

Yes it's bad. If you are in the US, the health dept. should have an OB and you really need to go there and get checked out until medicaid gets straightened out. At the very least they can tell you how to get the care you need. Please do this for your baby, not just for you.
