The Slavs settled first North on the Danube and then moved on to populate pretty much most of the Balkan peninsula, but the South most part. They settled South of the Danube mostly in the centuries 4th - 6th AD. As most migrating tribes they moved in search of a good place to live, but also mainly because they were pushed away by other Slavic and non-Slavic tribes coming from Asia and Eastern Europe.
