I always catch up and have always had normal periods. This past month I was almost 2 days late and it only lasted about 4 days. I am sexualy active. Is there a chance I may be pregnany even tho I eventually catch up with my pills?

The pill is 97% effective but only if you take it at the same exact time every single day. Catching up is good to do, because it helps keep the effectiveness from being completely eliminated when you miss pills, but it is still only minimally effective. Generally, you are safe if you miss 1, but if you miss more than that your BC will not be very effective, and there is a much higher possibility of pregnancy.

Anytime you miss 2 pills (even if you catch up) you have to use a backup method of BC for 1 week, like a condom. It doesn't matter if you catch up. I know i'm being repetitive, it is just really important and I think that if more people realized how important it is to understand how BC works, less pregnancy scares would occur, causing less stress for women.

If you are missing more than one pill/day then you need to use backup protection for that entire rest of the pack. If you have that much trouble remembering to take them you best bet is try something else like the nuvaring or the patch etc. There is always a chance you could be pregnant so if you think you might be take a test and find out.

yes, there's even a chance that you could become pregnant even if you take your pills everyday. they don't guarantee 100% and some women get pregant while on the pill.
