It sounds like fungus. You say 7 fish have already died and yet you still have more fish? How many fish are left? Even if you only have two left, adding the other seven fish, you should have a 90 gallon aquarium, MINIMUM, and I'm seriously betting that you don't. This is why they are dying. They are dying from toxic water quality caused by overcrowding. The rule for goldfish is 10 gallons of water minimum per fish up to 3-4 inches and for fish 4-8 inches, they need 20 gallons of water per fish and even more when they are larger than that. Goldfish put out massive levels of waste; more than any other kind of fish and because of this, they also need a filter that pumps water at 10X the size of the tank. So, let's say you have two fish left that are 3 inches or less each, then you should have a minimum of a 20 gallon tank with a filter that pumps water at 200 gallons per hour. You also need to do proper water changes of 25% every week and siphon the gravel. You should also be testing the water to make sure that your ammonia, nitrites and nitrates are at the proper readings. Failure to maintain any one of these necessities will result in poor water quality which, in turn, invites diseases into the tank. First, if you want to save any of your remaining fish, you must get them in a larger tank. If you can't afford a real aquarium, those plastic storage containers work great as a temporary fish tank. Get the filter and gravel all set up in there just like a regular fish tank. You don't have time to cycle the water, so you will need to use spring water. Don't use distilled, use spring water. Add some Stress Coat and some ph stablizer for goldfish (7.0). Then add some Jungle Fungus Eliminator (U.S.) or Anti-Fungus Remedy (U.K.) according to directions and continue to treat according to directions. Don't get anymore fish until you have a proper size tank at 10 gallons of water minimum (and preferably more) per fish and get the water cycled and tested.

Sounds like a fungus. There are some meds at your local pet shop for this. Also, a fungus is caused by stress. If you have 7 fish that have already died I would guess they are overcrowded. You did not mention how big your tank is but goldfish require at least 5 gallons of water per fish.

Get some meds soon, it may already be too late.

Good Luck and I sure hope this helps.

This sounds like some kind of fungal infection if the spots are large. If they are small (about the size of grains of sugar) they may have ich. See these websites for photos and treatments:

Since you've had several fish die in the tank, you probably also have elevated ammonia - I'd suggest a 50% water change before any treatment.

Could be something called ick.... there's medicines you put in your fishtank to treat stuff like this. If theres a good pet supply shop near you, go there and ask a manager. If you have a digital camera, take a pic and take it with you.
