I'd love to re-create this cherished childhood memory, but I need more information.
Is that all there is? Pancakes with sugar and lemon? What about side dishes? Beverages? Rituals?
I need a great pancake recipe, and insight into how this is celebrated. Thanks for your help! : )

In case this isn't known... In America, pancakes are usually very thick and fluffy, and usually served with lots of butter and maple syrup. This sounds different so that's why I need advice.

The reason pancakes can be fluffy is the baking powder or soda, or a combination put in the batter. My gran did both, sometimes putting a bit of potato in, thus potato pancakes.
The idea of using a ladle is also good, pouring enough in all at once.
As far as drink, I think that is less important. here is a link to a couple of prayers:

Shrove Tuesday is just to use up all that is left in your Larder that is bad for you before the start of Lent...This usually entailed all the fatty foods, ie, butter, milk etc.
English pancakes are much thinner than used in america, I use 8 tablespoons of self raising flour, two eggs and milk. Mix the eggs and flour together and mix in the milk until you get a nice creamy but not too thick batter. Use a knob of butter in a frying pan, heat and spoon in a small amout of the mixutre, swirl the pan around so that the mixture covers the pan and when bubbling, toss. Serve with fresh lemon and sugar, or hot chocolate sauce, or strawberry and raspberrys with a nice strawberry sauce, slice up bannana and drizzle on some honey. toasted oats with some natural yogurt. Enjoy.

Us Brits are strange creatures!. I much prefer American pancakes, especially for breakfast with sausage and maple syrup mmmmm....... Its worth the plane trip just for that!

just nail him to a bed and add your maple syrup!...in the UK we also add jam (fruit preserve), or refined sugar, like what is put in Tea/Coffee...but the bed option would probably suit him better!...x

look under the word crepe. find how they make in france. (other places like romania too.)
Yum.
With the thin crepe, you can make either desert or dinner varieties.
All are great. Mmm.
