I'm doing the temperature thing every morning before I even move. For the last 3 days my temp has been rising. Is the most fertile time the first day it spikes or anytime that it stops going up?

once your basal temp has risen you are probably unable to concieve. Ovulation happens the day before the rise, and altho the egg MAY live for 24 hours after it's release, often it can start to break down as soon as 12 hours after it's release. your most fertile time is thus the 3 days BEFORE the temperature rise...

there are always differences for each woman, and each cycle, but that's the average.

btw, because you can't KNOW for sure that you've ovulated until 3 days after the temperature rise, you should continue to have intercourse until then. you should also chart some of your other fertility signs - most notably your cervical fluid, and if possible cervical position, opening and texture. some times there can be other signs.... some people get... well... horny just before their most fertile stage. others may find they get headaches. myself, I seem to get hotflashes from about the 2nd or 3rd day of my period until 3-4 days before ovulation

hope this helps!

Your most fertile time was *before* your temp spiked. Your temp spikes the day after you ovulated. Since the egg only lives for one day, you are no longer fertile.

In my experience I would get a dip in my temps on my ovulation day and then next day get the spike and it continues to stay high, the day you would start your period it will drop, the spike is the projesterone getting the body ready for pregnancy.

Good Luck
