change timing belt. heres why-timing belts are good, on average, about 75000 miles. a loud exhaust will cost you $75.00 if the cop that pulls you over is in a bad mood. a broken timing belt will bend your valves, costing you $1800.00, no matter what mood you're in.

What good is a quiet car that doesn't run. Do the timing belt. With 120k on the old one, you are already on borrowed time. The lack of power is also an indication of a stretched belt that's ready to go. If the belt is stretched 1/4 inch over its length, the engine's ignition timing and valve timing are retarded and will turn a car into a gutless wonder. Exhaust pipes and mufflers can be temporarily fixed with flattened coke cans, but if the belt breaks, you're looking at a lot more than $500.
