Italy is having their lil' anti US base whine fest. South Korea has one every few months. I say we move out of these countries -- and they can't have it both ways. If North Korea wants to eat Soul for lunch, don't call us for help. See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya. Pick a lane. Do you agree?

Yes! And to make it interesting, we could line up our service members and they can go one at a time as they are replaced by an indiginous peacenik. 10,000 freeloaders to replace 10,000 Americans. If only 50 show up (usual sized activist crowd until Rueters doctors the photos) then we stay and charge them protection money.

No. I can't speak for the Italians as I was never stationed there. But I have spent a good bit of time in Korea and know that the average person in South Korea isn't against the U.S. presence. It isn't any different there than it is here. The loud mouths get the press coverage. There is an element, mostly young students, who weren't alive during the war and have their heads so far up their rear ends they'll never see the light of day. They believe that unification of the country will magically work to liberate the opressed in the North. They don't believe, or understand, that Kim will put them in reeducation camps to make them see things the way he wants them to. These people are in the minority but are activists who get a lot of press coverage.

I would pull out of Italia, S. Korea, Kosevo, Germany and various other places. We are spread too thin and frankly we can't afford to provide protection to others. Let them protect their own. I realize that having a base in a particular country isn't only for the protection of that country, but let's see if we can cut back to reduce cost and overextention of our military.

Perhaps if US pilots were not killing dozens of Italians at ski resorts by flying recklessly and knocking down resort gondolas, there wouldn't be this problem.

There's always a history behind these protests, and you'd be well advised to learn about them before condemning people.

See link below where US marine navigator convicted by military jury on the matter. Notice that he was convicted of illegally destroying the tape that showed their criminal acts, thereby preventing other culpable marines from getting the punishment they deserved.

No wonder Italians are mad!

strongly agree. our bases are basically giving huge financial support to the countries that have them. We should leave and keep some of the bases in our country open where they are wanted near family and friends!!!!
