Very unlikely. Notebooks are typically not made to be upgraded. I don't mean to put a strain on the relationship with your friend, but I'd estimate any PII computer to be worth no more than $75. Keep in mind that the computer you have is really going to be lucky to run Win2k acceptably. That should provide a reference in terms of the age of the computer, it's speed/power and capabilities, and its value.

No, you cannot upgrade to a Pentium 4. We are talking about the model of the motherboard. I think your friend is trying to rip you off as you can get a Pentium 2 much cheaper then that brand new. Good luck!

Generlly a motherboard which supports Pentium 2 processor would not support a pentium 4 processor, unless the motherboard is only few years old.

P2is a different socket processor than P4 is. You'll need to get a cpu and mobo. A P4 is an entirely different animal than a P2.
