The original series was from 2265 to 2269, while Next Generation started in 2364 and ran to about 2370. When you say new "star trek", the newest series "Enterprise" would have obviously pre-dated the original series and was set in 2151 to 2155.

The original series was set about 200 years from now but I don't know of any exact dates. I'm pretty sure that The Next Generation was set 80 years after the original series.
