I'm due next week on Feb 22, but I want to have the baby now. I've been in and out the hospital with false labor, is there anyway I can make my contractions stronger to the point that labor starts? My doctor told me to put hot towels on my nipples, does anybody know if that works?

I am due on the 24th of this month. I am trying the following things that I have heard can work. Sex, walking, raspberry leaf tea, eating fresh pineapple, eating spicy food, inserting evening primrose oil vaginally, nipple stimulation, more sex, more walking. Good luck, I hope for the both of us that some of this stuff works!!!

Don't know about hot towels but sex (involving sperm and an orgasism is best), raspberry leaf tea, a sad movie or very funny one, curry or cod liver oil (can cause runs), bumpy ride, long walk, massage with lavender oil and other oils (check net first), I don't know if any of these work but it has been a coinscience with my sisters, I always go early so I have the opposite problem.

Your doctor was very right. Putting hot towels over your nipples for ten minutes a day, can make you go into labour naturally.

My sister did it for two days straight while she was soaking in a bath, and then went into labour.. she was a week early.

Hope this helps.

That is an old wives tale...so is going for a bumpy car ride! The uterus will finally do it's thing when it is ready...short of having your doctor induce labor....and believe me, those contractions are no walk in the park!

whew! its just five more days left to wait.. in that time i suggest that you go to the library and look for 2 books .. both preferably humorous in content.
1) that tells all the stories of mothers who've had children .. and found themselves challenged by the responsibility of having a baby who depended on them 23 hours a day and long nights.
2) the second book should be of stories of mothers that had absolutely no problems whatsoever in caring for a baby. you will probably have to look in the fictional department for that one.

either that or rent movies that have those two themes.

also get a book on how to manage post-partum depression, and enlist mothers, mothers in law, sisters, aunts etc to make themselves available at any hour of the day or night. and prepare yourself for an interesting new way of life.

My Dr. suggested walking and eating greasy food. I went to the mall, pigged out and walked around for about 2 hours. i went in to labor the next morning!! Good luck!!

Do you have a breast pump....use it. Do like twenty minutes then stop wait an hour to see if it picks up if not do it again. (this can be used with the hot towels)

Not really sure if that works, have you tried having intercourse with your spouse...the sperm usually if you are ready for labor will soften the cervix.

or try a google search ...but don't do anything silly...best of luck

You can try hip circles if the baby's head isn't engaged in the pelvis and then squat and push to help dilate and efface your cervix. Best of luck.

That is silly! Just walk. Take a walk with someone. Go slow and comfortable a mile or so everyday. It helps.
