Start by going to a general web search site like dogpile to get initial information. As you look through this you will find that there are several organizations that maintain web sites that are helpful to anyone in the food service industry. There are also books that can be obtained at B&N or Amazon. If you are not willing to invest the time to do your own research I can garentee that you will fail in the restaraunt business.

Start with a lot of money. Then make a menu. Then find a place. Then get all your licenses and permits. Get insurance and liquor liability and dram shop. Have a lot of money. Deal with the city council getting approved. Call up food and beverage distributors and set up accounts. Choose the decor. Get your sales tax ID and your EIN. Get an accountant. Have more money. Call the inspections and appeals board and have them inspect you.

Um, yeah, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Then you get into hiring practices, codes, blah blah blah. There's so much.

Hope you do great though!
