In the movie Space Cowboys, Clint Eastwood and what's-his-name (did two-face in Batman) get in a machine that spins them around. They looked like they were getting blasted with strong winds inside the "room" they were in.

OK, is something PUSHING against them, or PULLING on them, while they are spinning around? And what exactly is pushing or pulling? I cannot see anything, but SOMETHING is really squashing them down.

They are in a centrifuge. The "pushing" is the matter inside them, or rather all the mass that makes up them, getting pushed to the outside while rotating. Spin your arm aroung rotating at the shoulder. You will feel your blood fill up your fingertips. The same thing is happening. It is visuallly misleading. The flapping of the face and skin is not wind, just the matter being forced outward. Good question!

Imagine going on a roller coaster. When you go down the far side of the hill, you're being pushed backwards into the seat, even though gravity should be pulling you forward.
Or when you take off in a plane, you're pushed back into your seat.
These are the same force that astronauts experience when they take off (only they experience a lot stronger forces). The centrifuge they train in is to simulate the same forces without blasting them off in a rocket. As they whirl around, the centrifugal force pulls in every part of them (inlcuding the soft tissue of the face). The forces are directed out from the centre of the spin.

The device is called a centrifuge.... it creates artificial G forces... The apparent force they experience is called centrifugal force, but this force is not really a force per se.... it's really centripetal acceleration that creates the apparent force. It mashes the persons face into funny shapes, and can make you black out if the acceleration is strong enough. Pressure suits squeeze the legs to force blood back up into the brain to help you maintain consciousness, but it takes practice.

It is a centifuge. Centifugal force is what is pulling them. It is also what pulls you to the outside of a corner when you turn in a car, and why you have to lean into a corner when turning your bicycle.

They stole his basketball skill and IQ. They got taller and bigger. AT the beginning they sucked at basketball but once they stole the talent from barkley, ewing, bradley, etc. They started being real good and huge. So they stole their basketball skill since after the players had it stolen they were really weak at b ball and were getting treatment.
