In my humble opinion it is one of the better laptops you can buy but with every vendor you may get a lemon.... So always buy the warranty extension (go for 3 years)... It may cost an additional $200 but it is well worth the headaches...

I have been using a Vio laptop for 5 years.... In fact I just upgraded my laptop and gave the old one to my father in law to use in Florida... He winters there every year....

Good luck....

Well Personally i will never buy a Sony Vaio Laptop again. Bought one 2 summers ago and right after the 1yr warrenty went up the solder on the power jack and memory slots failed. But i ended up buying a Toshiba which happen to be one of the best laptop systems i have ever used. Toshiba's are cost friendly great laptops.

Sony Vaio's are typically very good, but I've always thought a bit pricey. Sony demands a premium for their brand, and have focused typically on the compact notebook market, rather than "laptop".

I personally don't care for the Vaio's, but it certainly depends on what you're going to use it for. If light weight and mobility are your prime objectives (you're a road warrior) then you probably will be fine wtih a Vaio. I do think that many people who used to lean towards Vaio's have gone to Mac. The traditional competitors to Vaio's (Toshiba, IBM thinkpads - now Lenovo, and Dell) are all folks you should price and feature compare before you make up your mind. These days I think its also worth comparing Apple for a lot of folks.

Sony laptops and their other products are indeed very good but pricy. With laptops for instance, the user must take lots of care and goes for every laptops regardless of makes. I was lucky enough to have used several brands of laptops and my conclusion is that HP brands offer more versatility and features which only top range of sony laptops offer. So interms of value for money sony will not be at the top. And remember, users have to take a lot of care when using laptops as ther are delicate. But desirable!
