english is the official language of jamaica.

if you are going to stay in the touristy areas, everyone there will speak perfect english (British, not American English) so they might say stuff like "lift" instead of "elevator". for the regional things, you just have to learn as you go.

just be irie...that's one!

irie (pronounced eye-ree) means okay/fine/good/cool...etc

there may be a few others but since i was never treated as a tourist, i'm not sure about those.

They alll speak English and you really don't need to know the slang language some locals might speak. Basically, learn to say "no" very well to all the drugs you will be offered, or your "****" will be in jail.
