Wouldn't you be a little concerned? I couldn't help but ask in shock, What is that on your back? Then I sort of left before he would answer. I mean many of us study these arts and even practice, but how many of us go so far as to have a plate-sized pentragram inked into our bodies?
After this incident, I experienced a hostile visitation in my home. I made the proper defences and it left. Now we are sort of wary of each other at work but civil.
It's just a shock, that's all. Wouldn't you be a bit surprised? It's always a shock to find someone else who studies these things.
I would like to ask him why he has it, but I don't really want to encourage him. At least it's pointing the right way up!
Oh, and this boy is actually a hunchback. I am serious. Just odd, that's all.

If I were to tatoo anything upon my body, anything esoteric or arcane, it would have to be charmed items. Protection, enhancement, accquiring traits.

By keeping a charm close to someone, like a watch or a pewter figure, the charm is more powerful than if it was far away from the person. But by tatooing the charm upon someone, it's considered the most powerful way to make use of a charm. Your'e making it part of the person's life, which revoles around his body.

Don't find it odd, don't be strange towards him. You both know you dwell into the esoteric arts. Both of you can be said as being in the same boat. If your'e really that curious, I suggest you let him know you mean no discrimination and is of the same interest as him then finally ask of the tatoo.

As for the visiting thing, charms MOST of the time are for protection. But what determines the intruder and a friendly gesture? The person in-charge of the charm or a fixed set of rules as the charm is made.

When he was asked, he felt offended maybe and the charm does it's work. Offense is the best defense, you might have just experienced one of it's functions.

Plus it's not a bad thing to see someone with a pentagram un his back, at l'est you know if the workplace was ever tainted you'd all have someone to look for advice.

Everyone is different from another somehow in certain ways, if you can't accept that person...what makes you think others will accept you?

No, I can't say that I'd be concerned. Then agian, I do know more than one person with a "plate-sized" pentragam tattoo on their back. I have friends with plenty of other different tattoos of the same size too.

If you're somebody who gets "hostile visitations" in your home, I'd say a guy at work with a tatoo is the least of your concerns.

And those who think there's a "right" way for it to point haven't done enough research. Wiccans hardly have a monopoly on the symbol, and even within Wiccca there isn't strict one-point-up rule. Just ask the ones who use it one-point-down for initiations or to symbolize Pan/Baphomet.

C'mon, you know some folks like the gaudy display. I'm glad the two of you have some kind of mutual peace and understanding. I'm not a part of any 'us', but you probably already know that as a spiritual path often labelled 'other' on personality profiles, there are bound to be essentrics with an interest. Perhaps he was, as many have been, all 'on fire' for a new devotion in his younger years, calms down and becomes realistic, but still has the huge tattoo? At least, other than testing the waters, he doesn't appear to be a troll of any kind. I scarred the scalp on the top of my head as a youth in a fit of less than sane devotion. I'm much more rational now, but I still look like a balding guy and male pattern don't run in my family. I would just guess it's something similar.

I have a pentagram tattooed on my body for my own spiritual reasons... I have noticed a Christian has now laid claim to the symbol, well what he says is the biggest crock of s^*t I've ever heard.. The top point represents "The Ether" The other 4 points represent "The Elements" , other Wiccan's may have variations, but trust me it has nothing to do with Christianity.. They think everything belongs to them , they forget that they stole almost everything from the Pagans...Including Easter, X-mas and even their nativity scene can be seen in Egypt (circa 5,000 BCE) So don't be afraid , this man/boy may be the among the most spiritual people you may ever meet.. I think you are judging a book by it's cover...

Well, first of all it was rude of you, in my opinion, to ask him for details and then run away. No wonder he's wary of you at work! From the sound of it, you acted more than a little spinny.

And as far as I'm concerned, what anyone wants to tattoo on their body is their own business. Or are you not as comfortable with the symbols of the Wiccan/Pagan faith as you though you were?

I'm still puzzeled as to why you would label this man as "odd". You stated, in your question, "many of us study these arts and even practice", so why would you even be concerned. Obviously this man is proud of showing his religion of choice. No one seems to "object" or label anyone else as "odd" when they have a tattoo of a Cross, picture of Christ, and/or Star of David, so why not a pentagram/pentacle.

I also found it rather rude and inappropriate, after asking him a question, that you left before he could answer you. I'm sorry, but I label you as "odd".

Have a lovely rest of the evening. Bright Blessings.

many people do things for symbolism. i have several tatoos planned all of Pagan origin. Ogham runes and Pentagram included.

so you asked him about it and then ran away before you gave him a chance to explain? that was rude. the attack that you experienced was probably wrought of your own negative energy.
negative energy draws negative entities. why do you think that he has it, he likes the symbol. that is all that is required to get a tatoo. it is art, unless it is done with magical intent, and the ones that are done with magical intent you will probably never see or understand.

oh and i have to say

the Pentagram is not a different star of david. it has been around much longer than Christianity. the Star of David is more likely a different version of the Pentagram.

like every other Pagan tradition Christainity tried to Hijack it.
when that did not work they spent years calling it evil. now that it is a popular symbol they are trying to hijack it again.

Wow, I thought someone had discovered me!

I have a plate sized tattoo of a Baphomet (like a pentagram, but more explicitly Satanic) right across my back. Like so:

My advice: mind your own business. I'd be irritated if someone started prodding me about religion, I consider it a taboo subject for the workplace.

the pentagram used to be the emblem for CHRISTIANITY, it represented CHRIST .YOUR. Savior??.I seriously doubt if your a Christian. on the cross. if it is up side down then it demonic, if its the proper way its GREAT!!!!!,I have pentagram on my wall and i am a Christian.don't condemn people out of ignorance, as THEN .YOUR committing a SIN.,THIS is WHY you were visited.Probably. because you judged someone .and didn't actually KNOW that person or their motives.

YOU

OR

THE

ODD

ONE.

You say
Its pointed the right way

so your a demon worshiper for taking offense? YES.

Stay away from me, you evil one.

How DARE you condemn me for having a pentagram on my wall. pentagrams or great.
Get a life and STOP judgeing others or your going to go to hell like the bible says you will for judgeing and making false witness against someone, read the ten commandments sometime.
