Truly depends on how many days you have inbetween your cycle. If you have a normal cycle every 28 days then you will ovulate - according to medical research- 14 days after the FIRST day of your cycle. I run 27 days so I ovulate 13 days out from my first day.
If you however have irregular cycles then it is going to be difficult to count, I would suggest but not highly an ovulation kit. They are extremely hard to read. After ttc for 2 years though there is NO science or dead to rights knowledge to this. You will get pregnant when the timing is right and that is just the way it is. Counting and measuring is a helpful tool but not 100% effective.
Try just having fun and try a fertility calendar rather then counting, I use www.mymonthlycycle.com...it does it all for me!

On AVERAGE and I can NOT stress enough that this isn't true for all women all the time and should not be used as a form of birth control. If you want to know about the rhythm method or Fertility Awareness methods of birth control there are lots of great sites out there.

A women ovulate 14 days before the START of her next period.

So if you have a 28 day cycle you ovulate on day 14
If you have a 31 day cycle then you ovulate on day 17.

Sperm *may* survive up to 5 days, though some studies suggest more or less.

So for a 28 day cycle you can conceive on day 9
For 31 day cycle day 8.

www.babycenter.com/calculators/ovulation/

Go to this website. It will approximately calculate your ovulation period. You will have to know how many days your cycle is;meaning from day one of your period to day one of your next period. If the days vary, then use an average.

It completely depends on the person. I have gotten pregnant TWICE on the eleventh day. So I'm not sure where people are getting 14-17. It is COMPLETELY up to you and your body.
