My friend made her daughters prom dress (yes she is a semstress) and it still ran over $100 with her doing it herself. My niece bought a perfect prom dress and Sears for $125 and had it altered at a taylor for $25 (it needed shortening). So look in Sears, Penneys, David Bridal, etc., and hopefully you will find your perfect dress.

I would just go to the mall and buy it from a store because you are only gonna use it for one night. I would get a nice dress made and use it over and over again. I wouldn't have one made just for prom.

it si definitely cheaper to have it bought from the store... find a JC penney in new yourk city and you'll find a prom dress
