I hate these darn things! It seems I get them every spring. I called the exterminator and they couldn't get rid of them. What I ended up doing was making traps.
Take two liter or 20 oz plastic soda or water bottles put a piece of fruit in the bottom, apple slice or something that will attract them. R-roll a piece of paper into a funnel with the hole very small and the opening wide. Place the small end into the bottle. The flies will be attracted to the sent and will get in but unable to get out. Be sure that ALL food is put away in containers or in the fridge. Good Luck! These are pesky little buggers!

I would start by searching for rotten old fruit and if found, then of course, throw it away. Also you may try placing some moth balls in a bowl in the center of the kitchen. It will stink and I know it works with moths, so maybe it will work with other insects as well. It wouldn't hurt to try. Good luck!

I had a bunch of fruit flys also and what I did was buy raid foggers, they come in 3 packs at Walgreens for 10 dollars, I stayed gone for a few hours and they were all dead when I returned.

Get yourself some mr clean, hot water and rags and wipe down your countertops, trash cans emptied and washed out, clean your appliances and sweep and mop your kitchen floor. You can do this all with Mr. Clean and they should die or disappear!! They are really one of the worst pests around and make sure you do not have no fruit laying around...Good Luck to you!

They have a very short life span-but more will hatch. Put away anything sweet, sugar, fruit or syrup, jelly even pnut butter. wash the counters and get out your fly swater--they'll be gone soon. Next time keep your fruit in the fridge or in a bag...that's all .

One time we had them and I didn't know why and then I looked in the garbage and there was a peach in there and it smelled bad and I threw out the garbage and in a day or two they went away and I think they are attracted to damp things also. I am not for sure.
