yes, door stays shut with a magnet strip.

Old ones though used to have a latch/handle that you could not open from the inside

the question is "are you that hard up for entertainment that you have to escape from a refrigerator?" Hold off Houdini, most refrigerators do not have latches anymore, so you will be fine. If the sucker tips over while you are pondering life's important questions and happens to land on the door...the next question is how much air is left in the refrigerator?

That legend came from the old fridges which used a certain type of handle that needed to be moved to unlatch the door. The modern day fridges are nothing like that, and can easily be opened from the inside.

I've heard the same thing, it's all a matter of being able fit in the refrigerator first. which may prove difficult, depending on your size. Then once your inside I'm sure you will be able to open it.

for somebody small enough to fit inside of one, probably not.

it has to do with leverage. when in such a confined space you have no leverage to open the door.

you could try slamming your body against the door, but you risk it falling over onto the door.

send it into mythbusters they will find out.

Hold on...I will see if I can contact Houdini from beyond the grave and ask him. If anybody knows, it'd be him.
