Not sure on the age of your kids, but if they are young then this sytem should do just fine.... I would contact the school though to see if they are a Microsoft shop or not... Since you may just want to buy Microsoft Word just in case.... Also the school could advise you on other software that you could need to make their education work...

Now for teens, gaming is the big thing and this system will be the low end.... Of course it is a laptop you are quoting... Laptops are not made for gaming...

Other recommendations would be a docking station and a 17" TFTP or LCD monitor... This way here you can treat the laptop as a desktop computer...

Have fun......

I don't see any specs on the video card, make sure it has enough memory to run Vista Aero Glass.

What will you do for Office software? I ususally uninstall Works immediately.

Also, get virus software immediately. There are free ones if cost is an issue, but I noticed you chose no protection.

If this is a pc for home, why didn't you chose a desktop? They are cheaper with more options. Try a dell config with the same specs and I bet you save $100 or more.

And take the longest warranty you can get. I usually try for 4 years.

Looks pretty good to me. Our office has had great luck with Dell desktop PCs. With kids, give thought about what if the screen goes. The boss at work damaged his and a repair shop charged a pretty penny to repair it. Even if you buy the part yourself and install it, it is expensive. When I bought 2 Toshiba laptops from Circuit City, the extended warranty was the same price as a new screen for about 1-2 years of coverage. Yikes!.

extraordinary this may be a annoying call. installation RAM and a video card isn't troublesome, yet relies upon what your pc can shelter. DDR SD RAM is older than todays DDR2 ram and the present DDR3 reminiscence. I say you need to get a clean pc. Get a working pc or pc with a minimum of a Pentium 4 or better processor, strategies-blowing is a Intel center Duo or Intel center 2 Duo, with a minimum of one million GB of ram (each and each element is surely DDR2) p.c.. reminiscence of a minimum of 224MB ought to artwork surprising. troublesome tension is as much as you based what you shop on your pc. in case you recognize your pc can shelter it, double the Ram and probably a clean p.c.. card, do no longer purchase the considerable severe priced, some element much less severe priced. look at small pc shops, you will locate truthful deals there.
