How do you think people add others on Myspace, Faceparty, etc.? In order to add that person, you look at their profile & click the add button.
They don't know you before you look at their profile & they don't know you when they accept your request. But...they do it anyways, because they like what they see on your profile, or they just want to make new friends.
This isn't weird at all, so don't worry.

people do it all the time but if they dont think youre cute back then its a little awkward

no ..cuz i do that all the time on myspace it natural to do that
