Both films deal with some pretty horrific stuff and don't leave you feeling great. Both great movies though. I'd have to go with "Million Dollar Baby" though, because there are some high points to her tragic life. And, the scene where a broken down Morgan Freeman punches out that punk-*** bully almost makes the whole movie!
Also, Clint isn't in "Mystic River". I prefer his films to have at least a little Clint face-time.

Both were excellent, but Mystic River was sad all the way thru. Million Dollar Baby was upbeat with a sad ending. I would have to say M.D.B.

Million Dollar Baby. It had more of a soul to the writing.

Mystic River, but that's pretty limiting for the man's genius. Personally I'd rather watch "Letters From Iwo Jima" for his direction, and "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" for his presence on screen.
