It has been getting progressively slower and slower and nearly impossible to get back on if the screen saver comes up. My roommate also deleted a bunch of stuff because she said if it hadn't been used in awhile it's probably not needed. She is dumb. So is there anything I can do other than take it to some geeks to fix it?

Run a MSconfig command from the Run command in Start. Under Startup disable everything and reboot.

Well she isn't dumb if she says that if you have files you don't need, need to be deleted, because they do use up space. Anyways back to the question, To get it faster, you will need to buy a new processesor and/or a new video card to load the colors faster, or you can turn your computer off on a regular basis and defragment it on a regualr basis too.
