My daughter is 5.5 weeks old. THe past week she has had a fussy spell from about 730pm to 11pm. She doesn't cry constantly...there are things I can do to soothe her, but they only last about a minute. So, I put her in the swing, she stops crying, 1 minute later, screaming. I pick her up and put her in the bouncy seat. She stops. I think I've figred out what is wrong, 1 minute later, screams. I hold her, 1 minute later, screams, put her on the floor, one minute later, screams, try to feed her, try to burp her, try to cuddle her, leave her alone, talk to her.....I am breastfeeding if that means anything here...I am about at my wits end. About 11pm I am about in tears until she finally eats and then falls asleep for the night. Is there anything else I can do? I DO try those gas drop things...they don't help either. Please help!

Could be. One way to know for sure..I know this is gonna sound crazy but it works. If the baby is colicky and you take it out in the cold air for just a few moments, it will stop crying. Something about the air soothes them. If she's not in pain, and is dry, fed and all other things are ok. Swaddling your baby will help too. Burp after ever 1/2 ounce or so. Also try to get someone to give you a break occassionally. You'll need it. Usually the colic will leave when they are about 3 or 4 months. Make sure she's getting enough to eat too. IF this stuff still doesn't help, take her to the doctor and go from there. I'm mom to 3 children.

My daughter did the same thing and we found out that she had Acid Reflux. She would start screaming every night around 6:30 or 7:00. No matter what we did, she screamed. then I started to look at HOW she was screaming......it was always sort of a hiccup/burp before the screams started. That was the acid coming up in her throat and burning her.
Look very closely at all the things she does besides screaming: pulling her legs up, arching her back, pulling at your face......tell your doc ALL the things she does and they can help you find the right diagnosis.
Good Luck....

Hmm, breastfeeding shouldn't do bad...if you're doing breastmilk/formula in a bottle, make sure the air doesn't get swallowed!
