Spam, when meaning junk email, it's junk mail, people don't like to get junk mail, plus some of it has an 'adult' nature, and people don't want children getting that kind of junk email.
Also, this junk mail causes a lot of traffic on the internet. Most email on the internet is spam, and it causes a lot of load on a mail server to process all of this junk. This slows down the server, and then people may have to wait longer to get their email, which they don't like.
