I have a huge amount of paperbacks currently stored in my basement (in cardboard boxes). I'm moving...is it safe to store them in a storage place that isn't climate-controlled?

I guess my basement is kinda climate-controlled...there's a couple of heat vents and the walls have been coated to prevent water intrusion...

No it is not safe to store in a facility that is not climate controlled, unless you live in a very very dry climate. Also if you do not plan to store them for very long. The humidity will ruin them.

Yes, if you put them in sealable plastic bags first. Otherwise the covers are going to stick together and you might even find termites in them.

I would say no, because paperback or hard cover books will get moist and eventually rot.
