Any one know of any good post-bop jazz albums?

By post-bop, I mean jazz that was losing it's Charlie Parker, hard swinging tradition through the 1950's . Music that is not totally free jazz, because it still has some melody to follow.

The best examples I can site are some albums between 1964-1969. Your suggestion does not have to be from this time period.
Wayne Shorter-The All Seeing Eye.
Bobby Hutcherson-Dialogue.
Eric Dolphy-Out There.
Andrew Hill-Point of departure.

Please help. Thanks.

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about! It tends towards the more ACCESSIBLE avant-garde, not the hardest --- and I like it do.

Jackie McLean's One Step Beyond
Charles Mingus - Mingus, Mingus, Mingus, Mingus, Mingus
Miles Davis - ESP
Sam Rivers - Fuschia Swing Song
Jacki Byard - stuff on Prestige
Ornette Coleman - (several) - Volume 1 & 2 At The Golden Circle (YES!)
Gary Burton's Duster
Gary Burton's Lofty Fake Anagram
(similar to the BH vibe, in a way, not exactly what you described)
(Burton also will help you round out your perspective on the era)

And more from the artists you have?

BH - Components

Andrew Hill - Passing Ships - flawed due to under rehearsal but so brilliant anyway.

Enjoy!
