Certainly not Abraham Lincoln. He is the only President in the history of the United States that formed an army to attack his own country and in doing so brought over five hundred thousand deaths to Americas young men in both the North and the South. I would have to say the greatest president was Theodore Roosevelt. He was a great Statesman, Sec. of the Navy and the Commander of the Rough Riders during the Spanish American War before becoming President of the United States!

I personally would go with President Abraham Lincoln. Much like today He stood against tremendous opposition and discention that very nearly destroyed America as we know it.
He was vilified by the entire Southern Region of the United States for daring to see the Black man as more than property.
He was blamed for the incredible bloodshed that flowed from the Civil War and even the destruction of a multitude of Families by War.....Sound Farmiliar?
Of course we all are better for His Sacrifice today, and History has been kind to Ol' ABE. For He paid the ultimate sacrifice for His Legacy.

My grandfather felt Truman was.
He certainly was an interesting guy. Fairly self made and pretty solid reputation as honest guy. Delt with some very difficult issues such as the end of world war two.
-- never formerly went to school. Self taught
-- learned in US military during world war 1 and was natural.
-- worked on highway stuff.
-- Very good at details. Was very active before he was vice president helpnnig make u.s. war effort more effective as a senator.
-- desegregated the u.s armed forces.
-- Delt was senator McCarthy: the witch hunt guy..
Contraversy:
- made descision of dropping the bomb during world war two. Tough call.
- made descision to back creation of israel.
- had some controvaersial/dishonest associates in his past but was found to be squeaky clean honest himself.

Abraham Lincoln. He was our President during the Civil War, the greatest crisis our country has ever faced. Our country remains what it is because of his desires to reunite the Union as smoothly as possible.

Lincoln- He put off going to war as long as possible. He was full of regrets because of the war. He didn't emancipate the slaves because he thought it was right, he did it to gain more troops: And yet when he was walking through the streets of the South, after the war, and freed slaves were throwing themselves at his feet, he considered himself unworthy. He was humble. He only had the country's best interests at heart.
